TEXT MESSAGE MIKE KORTAN QUITS FBI AMID SCANDAL OVER CORRUPTION

“Mike” is Out – Michael P Kortan Quits FBI…

Another longtime FBI official quits today. According to Fox News Catherine Herridge reporting, FBI Asst. Director Michael Kortan (aka text message “Mike”), the head of the FBI Public Affairs Office, has announced he is retiring.

Mike Kortan was previously exposed by FBI Agent Peter Strozok as having specific information that the investigation into Hillary Clinton was manipulated by the “small group”. “Mike’s” job was to sell the ruse as a valid investigation.

WASHINGTON – The longtime head of public affairs at the FBI — who was a confidant of former director James Comey — is planning to retire, Fox News has learned.
A notice went out this week for a retirement get-together for Michael Kortan scheduled for Feb. 15. Since 2009, Kortan has served as assistant director for public affairs, an influential job that controlled media access. He also served under former director Robert Mueller, now leading the Russia probe.
The FBI confirmed to Fox News that Kortan is retiring.
It’s unclear whether the retirement was long-planned or in any way precipitated by recent events. The FBI emphasized he was finishing 33 years of service. (read more)

At first, the context behind the September 10th, 2016, message was elusive, however it is now clear.

On September 2nd, 2016, during the (pre-election) apex of the FBI providing the documents behind their investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of her personal email, and the subsequent decision by FBI Director James Comey not to pursue criminal charges therein, the FBI released their investigative files:

“Today the FBI is releasing a summary of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s July 2, 2016 interview with the FBI concerning allegations that classified information was improperly stored or transmitted on a personal e-mail server she used during her tenure. We also are releasing a factual summary of the FBI’s investigation into this matter.
We are making these materials available to the public in the interest of transparency and in response to numerous Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. Appropriate redactions have been made for classified information or other material exempt from disclosure under FOIA. Additional information related to this investigation that the FBI releases in the future will be placed on The Vault, the FBI’s electronic FOIA library.” (link)

The FBI was under pressure to release their investigative documents. On Sept 2nd, 2016 the release included the FBI investigative notes (FD-302’s) from the questions and answers during Hillary Clinton’s interview. This investigative release was big news at the time.

The 302’s are the specific FBI forms used to document interviews/interrogations. They detail questions asked and answers given as well as who was present during the interview.

Inside the September 2nd, 2016, FBI release were two files:

•One file was 47 pages (full pdf here) and includes a full summary of the Clinton email investigation.

•The second file is 11 pages (full pdf here) and is the actual FBI investigator notes during the Hillary Clinton interview.

This second file is the “FD-302” This is the 302 file FBI Agent Peter Strzok is referencing in the text message to Lisa Page. Remember, Peter Strzok was one of the FBI people who actually interviewed Hillary Clinton.

What FBI Agent Peter Strzok is admitting in the September 10th text message, is that there are details within the interview of Hillary Clinton that he (and others) intentionally withheld from the September 2nd, 2016, release.

Specifically, evidence withheld in the 302’s would be some of the FBI questions and some of the Hillary Clinton answers to those questions. In essence, the FBI held back actually releasing the full account of the interview.

According to the Strzok text message, the reason for withholding some of the details of the Hillary Clinton interview is because there are “very INFLAMMATORY things” within it; and once congress finds out what was withheld the details will “absolutely inflame” them.

Peter Strzok then goes on to say when/if the full FOIA is released, presumably post-election, Jim, Trisha, Dave and Mike are going to have to figure out how to deal with the discrepancy:

…”I’m sure Jim and Trisha and Dave and Mike are all considering how things like that will play out as they talk among themselves.”

“Jim” is likely James Baker, the Chief Legal Counsel for FBI Director James Comey.

“Trish” is likely Trisha Beth Anderson, Office of Legal Counsel for the FBI. [Anderson was hired for the DOJ, by AG Eric Holder, from Eric Holder’s law firm.]

“Dave” is likely David Laufman, National Security Division, Deputy Asst. Attorney General in charge of counterintelligence. [Sat in on Clinton interview]

and “Mike” is Michael P Kortan FBI Asst. Director, Office of Public Affairs.

Brownscombe wrote that Britton told him he had confirmed that refuge occupiers had visited Grant County at least twice, meeting with Grant County Sheriff Glenn Palmer for lunch. Britton was concerned he “does not know where Sheriff Palmer stands,” Brownscombe wrote, and that if those then at the refuge returned to Grant County and attempted to occupy the courthouse, Forest Service office, or another building, it was possible Palmer would not enforce the law.

Last week, ODFW advanced temporary rules restricting fishing in inland waters for salmon, steelhead, and trout as well as sturgeon (to be addressed in a separate temporary rule following additional coordination with Washington State). The restrictions are driven by the emergency situation facing most Oregon rivers and streams due to drought conditions, low snowpack, low instream flows, extreme weather and highly elevated stream temperatures. The situation has resulted in lethal conditions for fish in several areas to date, and while air temperatures have moderated over the past week, temperatures remain elevated to levels of concern in many waterbodies. In addition, the forecast is for continued hot weather with no influx of cold water on the horizon. The collaborative includes both timber industry professionals and environmentalists that have traditionally been at odds over forest management policies. Beverlin said the science-backed, solutions-based approach has been successful on the Malheur.

FBI Informant - Moscow Spends Millions to Enrich Clinton Foundation - Uranium One

According to a new report, an FBI informant in the ongoing Uranium One investigation says that executives for the Russian nuclear company involved in the deal wired money to the United States to influence then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton during the time when she was in a position to reset relations between the United States and Russia. With Clinton's approval, that deal transferred at least 20 percent of U.S. uranium to Russian control.

As The Hill reported Wednesday, the informant, Douglas Campbell, told three separate congressional committees that millions of dollars were routed to the United States by Moscow. The money — earmarked to benefit the Clinton Foundation — was intended to influence Hillary Clinton. The degree to which the payoff was successful can perhaps best be judged by the fact that Clinton readily approved the controversial Uranium One deal.

The crux of the issue is the 2010 deal — approved by Secretary Clinton and others — that allowed the sale of of U.S. uranium mining facilities to Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation, a Russian state-owned company headquartered in Moscow. While it would be bad enough for Secretary Clinton to have approved a deal that would strengthen Russia while weakening the United States, there is more to this scandal than even that. The New York Times reported in 2015 (before Clinton was the Democrat nominee) that more than $40,000,000 in donations were made to the Clinton Foundation in connection with the deal.

Campbell’s newest revelations were delivered in the form of a written statement to the Senate Judiciary, the House Intelligence, and the House Oversight and Government Reform committees, which are looking into the deal, though he was also interviewed in a closed-door session by members of those committees. According to The Hill, his statement said that he was told by Russian nuclear executives that Moscow had hired the American lobbying firm APCO Worldwide specifically because it was in position to influence the Obama administration, and more specifically Hillary Clinton.

In one part of the statement, Campbell writes that Russian nuclear executives told him on more than one occasion that “they expected APCO to apply a portion of the $3 million annual lobbying fee it was receiving from the Russians to provide in-kind support for the Clintons' Global Initiative.” His statement went on to say, “The contract called for four payments of $750,000 over twelve months. APCO was expected to give assistance free of charge to the Clinton Global Initiative as part of their effort to create a favorable environment to ensure the Obama administration made affirmative decisions on everything from Uranium One to the U.S.-Russia Civilian Nuclear Cooperation agreement.”

As if on cue, Democrats began a campaign to cast doubt on the veracity of Campbell’s testimony. Representative Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), who is the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, was joined by the ranking Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, Representative Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), in claiming that in briefing late last year, DOJ officials told them that had found Campbell untrustworthy when he worked as an FBI informant.

What Schiff and Cummings did not address is why — if Campbell could not be trusted — he was rewarded for his work for the FBI in 2016 to the tune of $50,000.

Clinton spokesman Nick Merrill said Campbell’s testimony is part of a “trifecta of GOP-manufactured scandals” designed to distract from the Trump/Russia collusion investigation. Merrill said:

Just yesterday the committee made clear that this secret informant charade was just that, a charade. Along with the widely debunked text-message-gate and Nunes' embarrassing memo episode, we have a trifecta of GOP-manufactured scandals designed to distract from their own president's problems and the threat to democracy he poses.

This sounds familiar. As this writer reported when Campbell first came forward in November as the “secret witness” in the Senate committee investigation looking into UranuimGate, Merrill said, “This latest iteration is simply more of the Right doing Trump’s bidding for him to distract from his own Russia problems.”

Merrill needs to come up with some new material.

But in that spirit, this writer will simply respond to Merrill’s “new” statement by quoting from that previous article in November — because it’s as applicable now as it was then:

What Merrill, Clinton, and everyone else on that side of the scandal seems to miss is that Trump doesn’t appear to have any “Russia problems.” But Clinton, who — as irony would have it — helped start the whole Russia-as-the-Bogeyman process, does have a large share of Russia problems. And Uranium One and the Clinton Foundation are at ground zero of those problems.

And considering the mountain of evidence coming out of the text messages between FBI agent Peter Stzrok and his mistress/coworker Lisa Page, and the recent confirmation of the claims of the Republican FISA memo authored by House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), perhaps it would be best for Merrill not to mention those along with this. Unless he is admitting that Campbell is correct.

The deflection ploy does not appear to be working for Hillary Clinton this time. Her pay-for-play/UraniumGate scheme that weakened the United States while simultaneously strengthening our enemies and fattening the coffers of the Clinton Foundation during her tenure as secretary of state is already being investigated by at least three congressional committees, the FBI, and the DOJ.

Before it’s over, Clinton could face criminal charges in one or more of those probes. Because, as Nunes said Monday, there is a “clear link” between Clinton and Russia. Nunes was speaking of the Clinton campaign and the DNC illegally funding the spurious Trump “dossier,” which was based on information that was gathered “from Russian government sources inside Russia,” according to a recent referral for criminal investigation of the the document’s author.

As more and more evidence continues to come to light, it is becoming increasingly apparent that it was Clinton, not Trump, who was “Putin’s puppet.”

The Federal prosecutors filed a motion to dismiss the superseding indictment against four defendants in the Bunkerville Standoff on Wednesday, February 7^th.

Defendants from Tier 2, the final group set for trial, include Dave H. Bundy, Mel D. Bundy, Joseph D. O’shaughnessy, And Jason D. Woods.

The case is, in essence, over for these four men, as the motion specifically asked for the indictment to be dismissed with prejudice. This means there is no chance for the government to come back and attempt to try them for the same charges.

In light of the Judge’s order to dismiss the charges against the previous group of defendants last month, it is expected that Judge Gloria Navarro will grant this motion quickly.

The government did cite their reasoning to include another filing they made today.

The prosecutors filed a ‘Motion To Reconsider Orders Dismissing Indictment With Prejudice’ against the Tier 1 defendants, including Cliven Bundy, his sons Ammon and Ryan, and Activist Ryan Payne.

In this motion, the government admits to the snipers and the cameras:

There has never been any dispute that armed federal officers positioned themselves on public land so they could surveil the Bundy ranch to watch for signs of impending interference with the operation, and that at least for a time, they used a camera to assist with that surveillance.

However, the prosecution does not address the fact that they called these an “Urban Legend” and implied they were a fantasy made up by the defendants. Stating in court that the defendants were on a “fishing expedition”, they made every attempt to hide this evidence from the Court.

Judge Navarro gave the prosecution everything they wanted for months, actually years, until the truth was forced to come out. She ruled against the defendants at every turn. She finally tried to make things right last month when she ruled for the dismissal with prejudice.

The court was correct when it ruled that the prosecution violated the Brady rules multiple times. This seems to be one last-ditch effort on the part of AUSA Steven Myhre and company to save face.

Quite a lot is riding on this indictment for the government, including hundreds of millions of dollars. They must find a way to justify this bad behavior. Let’s hope that Judge Navarro does not fall for their fairy tales once again.
